A Preacher’s Misconception
Part 49

Topic: Living to please God,
Good or Bad 6
Sub-Topic: Long suffering

This week we will be going more into “long suffering”. If you think you know everything about this then think again. I may not be able to go over everything on this one but I will hit the points that I really want you to know about.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespasses against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine are the kingdom, The power, and the glory, for ever and ever, Amen.
Tonight I just want to dive into scripture so let us get right into it.

2 Corinthians 12:10
“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

When it comes to hardships, persecutions, and difficulties, many people often believe that walking with Christ is easy. Often times it becomes about blessings and healing and miracles, but this is not biblical. The truth is that once we start our walk with Christ then times will get hard. We will often times deal with even more hardships, persecutions and difficulties. Just because we are in Christ does not mean that we will be in a fantasy land. As a church and others in the world that do not know Christ, we need to get an idea out of our heads.

We live in a world full of sin not blessings and miracles. What I mean by this is that we are not always going to receive these things. As a result of sin, we have to endure these things on this earth. We are only saved thru grace. If it was not for the grace of God then we all would be on our way to hell. The fact is that we all sin every day.

We do not endure this walk with Christ for no reason. This walk is get back connected with our creator, enduring hardships and persecutions on this earth are worth it to get back to our creator. We do not do it for our sake but for the sake of Christ. When ever you are going thru your trials and tribulations then remember your hardships will only last but for a season.

Whenever you think you are about to give up in this life then press thru it because we are strong in the eyesight of God. For God has given us strength. Be happy in your weakness because it will only make us stronger and by doing so we will see the manifestation of the power of God work your life thru these hardships to make your stronger (James 1:2-3).These hardships that we go through also gives us a reminder that we need to stay connected to the creator. An electrical device cannot function without a power source so when we stay connected to our savior then he will take care of us through all of our trials and tribulations.

Why must we endure persecution to the end? Before I close out tonight’s lesson I want you to realize some of the persecutions that we will go through for the name of Christ.
• Laughed at and mocked for believing in Christ
• Standards are different from the world so the world will make you feel bad
• Financial battles
• Physical battles
• Spiritual battles
• Not fitting in with the world

If Jesus Christ suffered on this earth then, why do you think we will not go through anything? Next week lesson will be on gentleness. Until next time be safe and be blessed, everyone
