A Preacher’s Misconception
Topic: The new man
Sub-Topic: Understanding the new man
During the last post, I spoke on what is needed to make it into heaven. As we continue, be advised that this is a series. Many posts will be coming on until it’s over.
Now on to part 2 of “A Preacher’s Misconception”.
Last time we spoke on renewing our minds. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour we give our life to Christ this means our mind, body, soul, and spirit. Once we do this we are to begin learning what the will of the Lord is and how to become a better person in Christ and not by our own standards or ways. When we accept Christ our thoughts of the past and actions are gone away to make a way for the new to come in and change our life. Let’s take a look at scripture. Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.Romans 6:10-12 For the death that He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts. As Christians will we slip up and make mistakes, since no one is perfect.
Answer: Yes, we as Christians will make mistakes every day but understand the difference between a man who loves to sin and a Christian who sins. A man that loves to sin will not repent, learn from mistakes, or think before they act because they do not have the holy spirit. When you are saved the holy spirit will convict you when it comes to things of Cardinal minded and that are of the world. As Christians, we may sin without knowing it that is why it’s important to listen to others that are in Christ for we are to care for one another not just caring for each other physically but spiritually. Remember our real selves are our spiritual selves.
Using myself as an example, I used to curse a lot but because I allowed the holy spirit to come into my life I was able to allow the holy spirit to come in to help me with my problem and now I do not curse at all. In fact, I can’t stand cursing at all and thus causing me to become a step closer to Christ. Whatever problem that you are dealing with whether it is physical, mental, or spiritually or even a situation that you’re in just know that God can help you. God has given us doctors, lawyers, friends, family, psychologist and many other people around you to help you. These people are there to help support you. God helps you by working through doctors and other people. To wrap up tonight’s post I want you to know that by you truly accepting God into your life then you are accepting change.
Tonight’s message was on renewing your mind. You must have a renewed mind in order to 1. Be saved 2. Make it into heaven, 3. Become a better person/act like Christ. I hope you got something out of this post even though I did not go into to much detail here but stay humbled and Be Blessed. See you next time for part 3.
