A Preacher’s Misconception
Part 25

Topic: Living to please God

Sub-Topic: Communication[2]

Last week we started discussing communication. When it comes to communication then we should be aware of the words we use. You may think your words mean nothing but they mean way more than you think or could ever imagine. Tonight we are going to continue into our lesson about communication, so if you do not have your bible then I suggest you get one and follow along, I have said it before to not go by what I say but go by what the word of God says. It is important for all of us to get into the bible and not just hear it from others. You cannot become a doer of the word of God if you are not aware of what is in there.

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen. Let us take a look at two scriptures for tonight.

James 3:10
Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

Matthew 12:34
You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

This scripture says it all for all the things that I have noticed around me. A lot of people love God and love the blessings and miracles and just in general everything that anyone can get from others especially God while claiming it’s more than that. Let us break this down, 1st) I noticed people who do not have a relationship with God will suddenly get happy about something good happening to them i.e. a new job, car, house, money, healing and many others, but the problem is that they want the blessing without giving God anything back. If you know that God is good and has been good to you then why don’t you spend time with him in prayer or read the bible? God is not your God when you are not born again and when you ignore God’s word and not follow it. Don’t get this twisted God is only God to the once who truly loves him not who says they love him. You are a Viper for someone to pretend to speak good about God like they say God is good and everything but do not know that they are evil since they are blinded by this world. When someone has a filthy mouth then it speaks volumes about themselves. Let us take another look at what I mean.

Let me point this out first, a lot of people have good intentions as well as I had before in my past but did not know or understand that what I say is contrary to the word of God. Now as I have told you before in my past i cursed and it was something that I thought was okay, but as I really got into the word of God I began to understand that what I speak out of my mouth is not within the bible so therefore I was not lined up with the word of God. We have to get to a point where we are not seeking to please the flesh but to please God. We cannot have it both ways, with one foot out and the other one in. You can say you love God all you want to but that does not mean you are saved. If your life does not line up with the word of God then its time to get that corrected and that is something that I had to learn. When you continually speak evil then you are not gods child but then you come back and say God will forgive me, yes he will, but he want us to change and if you are not going to change but ignore God then how are you one of his?

If you cannot control your mouth then you are not one of his, let us take a look at this last scripture for tonight to prove this.

1 Peter 2:21-23
For to this, you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

If you can recall last week when we talked about communication, we learned that the Bible says you should not let any filthy communication come out of your mouth and that it is a sin. Now after taking a look at this scripture Christ is telling us to follow in his footsteps also remember what being a Christian means. It means to be Christ-like. If you are not Christ-like then how are you a Christian.

Tonight’s lesson was on understanding that with communication you cannot have it both ways. You cannot speak evil and say God blesses you with the same mouth. It’s either one or the other. Next week we will be diving into further of an explanation on communication. I hope you are prepared for this lesson will be a good one. Until next time, Be Safe and Be Blessed everyone.
