A Preacher’s Misconception
Topic: Living to please God
Last week we continued the discussion on communication so tonight we are going to take a further look into this. Communication is really a big thing and it is so big that you can either speak life to yourself or death. Your words have power and if you don’t believe it then let us prove it by taking a look at tonight’s scripture.
Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen. Let us take a look at two scriptures for tonight.
Tonight we will be learning about the power of your words. If you do not have your bible then I suggest you follow along with me and so without further ado lets take a look at tonight’s scripture on communication.
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
As you have read in the first scripture we found out that your words have power, you can literally speak life or death to yourself or others. When we speak good then we receive blessings and when we speak death and against something or someone then we will receive curses. It is not wise and not of God to speak bad on someone no matter what they have done. We are to speak good of them and if we do not have anything nice to say then we say “God bless you”. This statement says a lot because it shows how different you are from the world and that you want to bless them and not curse and you can even see change within people. Whatever you are going through with someone then know that they will eventually see the right when you take them to the Lord. Later we will be getting into bearing fruits and why it is so important for us to understand it.
James 3:5, 3:8
5) Even so, the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
8) But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
The tongue has power and more than you could ever imagine. Verses 5 & 8 of chapter 3 in the book of James states how powerful it. In verse 5 it says your tongue is such a small part but it can boast great things. Verse 8 says the tongue NO man can tame, for it is an unruly evil and watch this it says the tongue is FULL of DEADLY POISON. Wow, the tongue is full of deadly poison. Why poison? If you can refer back to “A Preacher’s Misconception” Part 23 which states that your words can lead to more and more ungodliness. When you spread poison then it can get to other people causing many things to happen that as children of God we need to stay away from and that’s arguments, hatred, fighting, killing and etc. Watch your words or you will have something on your hands.
Tonight was a short post but next week we will be continuing. Tonight I wanted you to get the understanding that there is power, within your words so be careful what you speak. Remember you can either bring good into existence or evil but as children of God we are to choose good and shun evil. Until next time Be Safe and Be Blessed everyone.
