A Preacher’s Misconception
Part 27

Topic: Living to please God

Sub-Topic: Communication[4]

During our previous lesson, we learned that words have power. It’s amazing that we have life power of life and death. It’s just a matter of what are we going to speak and as children of God we learned that we are to speak good and to speak to the edification of others. Tonight we will be going into learning more about the tongue and our words.

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen. Let us take a look at two scriptures for tonight.

We are the citizen of the kingdom that is wiser when it comes to our words and what we speak or let come out of our mouths. For those of you who do not know, we are not natural beings, natural beings are those that are of the world but as children of God, we are spiritual beings. As I have stated before we are to be in a spiritual mindset at all times. Times can get tough and we will slip and fall into our fleshly desires but by getting ourselves in check and lined up with the word of God then we can get ourselves back to serving God, it’s only bad when we stay in sin. Let me point this out, the world always will commit that their sin is okay since someone that is saved have sinned, maybe they sinned last week but what the world have to understand is that the world wants justification to continue not to stop. God’s children will fall but know the difference according to scripture. Without further ado, let us take a look at scripture for tonight.

Proverbs 15:2
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly

It’s very important to know and understand this. As children of God we are wiser than people of the world and so we have to come to the knowledge of being wise when it comes to our language. As with what this scripture is saying the tongue that is wise will commend knowledge. For one second lets get into the definition of commends. The word commends means to praise formally or officially, synonyms: Praise, Compliment, Congratulate, Applaud and Honor. Now a fool will not seek knowledge but a wise man will and the only way you can obtain knowledge is the word of God, alright now pertaining to your language, your language should be of accepting the knowledge that comes from the word of God not speaking against it, now that is a fool. For a fool does not understand anything spiritually but will and do understand everything that is cardinal minded, natural, and of this world.

Proverbs 18:2
A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.

When someone states opinion than knowledge then they are a fool, plain and simple. Cursing and such makes you look like a fool. Check your words before you speak. Be careful about what you let come out of your mouth. Let me correct myself your mouth is not yours and it has never been yours, for you have been brought with a price.

This is another scripture which states that you have to be very careful with your words. No matter what you may go through we ought to speak good of others no matter what.

Quote this from me, “Your words determine who you are” If you have a problem with your language then ask God for help, God will help you but you have to come to him with a sincere heart.

Tonight I wanted you to get the understanding that with your language a wise man who loves the Lord will be wise when it comes to the words that you speak. Remember to utter nothing but that is good for the edification of others so that it may minister grace unto them. Do not be a fool but be wise when it comes to your choice of words. Until next time Be Safe and Be Blessed everyone.
