A Preacher’s Misconception
Part 45

Topic: Living to please God,
Good or Bad 2
Sub-Topic: Different perspectives of good and evil

Tonight, we will be going over the different perspectives of good and evil. From this post onward, I will try to add in bits of previous lessons. I feel like tonight will be a good lesson. Make sure to pay close attention to the next couple of weeks because we will be going in further and further every week.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespasses against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, for ever and ever, Amen.

If you do not have your bible then I suggest you follow along with me. As I have always said “You have to confirm things for yourselves. Without further ado, let’s get into scripture for tonight.

James 1:8
But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled sea wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

We will be starting off tonight with a different translation of James 1:8 from the new living translation and it says ” Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do. A man’s mind is unstable. We all can go from believing in one thing to another. From creating laws to removing laws. We all have different view points of life. To go further I will be giving you an example from today’s society. Not too long ago, marriage was only between man and women, but because the world changed their minds, we have man marrying a man and like wise with women marrying women. We also have different genders. Today’s society has changed and will always change. One man may think it’s okay to lie while the other says it’s not okay. Every mind is different without a standard. Imagine going to heaven one day at the time of judgment and God says I will not let you through. Your reply would be but I have been a good person. Now, under what standard is being a good person coming from, Is it yourself? If this is the case then everyone will be able to make it into heaven.

As a result of our minds being unstable, and our minds are constantly changing and if that is the case then what is the definition of good? The definition of good can be twisted in so many different ways to benefit each person. Without a standard chaos would occur. Meaning, I can’t go and steal and think I can make it into heaven under my own definition of good because my mind would change about stealing, my mind would be for God one moment and the world the next, and give the excuse that stealing is not as bad as another crime. Comparing a crime to another crime does not make any crime less of a crime than the other.

The different perspectives of right and wrong are dependent on each person without a standard. Having a perspective of good and evil depends on each person. Let’s go over the different perspectives of good and evil.

• The perspective of the world-
Having this perspective is described in the first scripture of tonight.

• The perspective of different cultures-
People from different cultures have different opinions on different topics.

• The perspective of a moral standard-
This perspective that is a moral standard is an objective standard which is the word of god. It applies to everyone no matter what background, language, or ethnicity.

Being a good person has no definition without a standard. Our standard is the word of god. The Bible is the ultimate standard. It tells us how to live and what is and is not acceptable, instead of relying on our own minds. I would like to break each of these perspectives down but we will be moving on next week. In the future, you can read an expanded version of this and any other sub-topics on my website. Continue to be on the look out for my new website. This lesson was tough to get down and explain but I think I have it explained correctly. Thanks for reading everyone, until next time be safe and be blessed, everyone.
