A Preacher’s Misconception
Part 19

Topic: Q&A

Before going into what is really going to be discussed in the next few posts I want to use these next two weeks to explain something very important. I will be covering several important questions regarding being saved/born again. I know many people think that they are saved but I want to bring you the truth so you can have the correct knowledge to change your life around. Here are the questions that will be covered over the next two weeks. Tonight I will be answering the first four questions and next week, Wednesday, August 31, 2016, I will be answering the last four questions. if there are any questions that you would like to ask then please comment or inbox, I will try to answer it the best way I can. Remember I am no expert so if I get something wrong then please, by all means, correct me but remember it has to have an answer that is supported by the Bible and not by your own opinions.

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

-Is being a good person enough to make it into heaven?
-Can I be saved and live the same way I have been in the past?
-Is it enough to pray but not read my word or to read my bible every now and then?
-What does it mean to love God?
-If I go to church every now and then, would I be saved?
-What does it mean to have Christ in my heart?
-What does it mean to love Christ half-heartedly?
-How do I know that I am saved?

Questions for tonight
-Is being a good person enough to make it into heaven?
No. Have you every heard of we are not saved through every good work? Let’s take a look at scripture on this, Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit” You can do nice things for people or have a good heart all you want to but if you have not seriously accepted Christ into your life then you are not saved and therefore cannot make it into heaven since you are not born again through the Holy Spirit.

-Can I be saved and live the same way I have been in the past?
No. You cannot live in the past, in other words, you cannot live the same way you do now when the holy spirit comes upon you then there will be a change within you. A transformation would have to take place. Study scriptures on this but for now, take a look at this scripture to back up this answer. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Romans 12:1-2 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” When you are truly saved then change will come about, meaning you will see that the sin that your in and will be procced to get out of it to do the right thing according to the word of God.

-Is it enough to pray but not read my word or to read my bible every now and then?
No. Reading and abiding by the word of God is vital. It is our spiritual food which is more important than our natural food. If you can feed your natural selves then you can feed your spiritual selves. You cannot grow in Christ also when you do not read and abide by his word. Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” It is also important to know that some people think it’s okay to not be in the word of God and not change is fine with God but he says differently. Think about this and evaluate your life with Christ.

-What does it mean to love God?
I will keep this one short with one verse, the Bible says if you love me then you will keep my commandments. Some say you can’t keep Gods commandments, well that is a lie you can because God has given us our own free will and the knowledge of right and wrong. John 14:15 “If you love me, obey my commandments” Take a good look at the word OBEY, yes if you are disobeying then you are not obeying which means you are showing that you do not love God.

Tonight I took some time out to answer some questions on being truly saved. Some may think they are saved but they are not because there is no change since they are not reading and since they are not reading then they cannot abide by the word of God. Next week will the last four questions, On post 20, will be going into…..well let us wait on it but be prepared to get the good word. Be Safe and Be Blessed, everyone.
