A Preacher’s Misconception
Part 50

Topic: Living to please God,
Good or Bad 7
Sub-Topic: Gentleness

This week. We will be going into learning about gentleness. Before I get started I want the fellas to know that gentleness does not mean feminism. These are two different things. I hope you will enjoy tonight’s lesson.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespasses against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine are the kingdom, The power, and the glory, for ever and ever, Amen.

Matthew 11:29
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls:”

In this scripture, Jesus in speaking. Jesus says for us to take his yoke upon you and learn from him. When Jesus says “Take my yoke upon you” he means teachings. We are to take the teachings of Jesus and apply them to our everyday life. In this instance, we are to learn from him about how to be gentle.

To be gentle is to be humble in heart. I hear this all the time about people claiming to be humbled but do not understand what it really means. The definition of humble is having or showing a modest or low estimate of one’s own importance. You cannot be humbled when you are all about yourself. Actors, singers, rappers, and generally “famous people” are deceiving people by giving the definition of “humbled” a different meaning. How can you be humbled at one point but not the other? If you are humbled for some people and not others then you are not being humbled.

Really think about this. I have noticed during celebrity awards, people want to say that they are humbled and honored to receive such recognition but they would look down on people because of wealth, fame, and etc. The fact is that we all tend to treat people differently. It may not be because of race or ethnicity but of something else. To be humbled is to take the importance away from you to focus on everyone else. Why is it that rappers like Lil Wayne, will not help the poor or children? This is a sign of greed also think about how he treats law enforcement, the media, and everyone else around him. This is not a humble man by any means. It makes absolutely no sense to buy music or to listen to music of someone that is opposite of what you want to be.

James 3:17
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering without hypocrisy.

Don’t get me wrong there are people who are humbled as celebrities. I was about to get on a political view but the main thing I want you to know is that we are to be humbled without hypocrisy. The one thing that we have to stay away from is being a hypocrite. To go and smile in someone’s face and talk about people behind their backs is wrong also to go in front of national television and speak about being humbled and your music and etc. is speaking contrary to what you have tried to present to the public is wrong. I really dislike this about rappers and celebrities. For me, I can say that I have been working on this, for sure.

There is a lot more  I want to explain on this topic but for now, I just want to get the main teachings out of the way. In the future, I will be using this scripture as a reference. To be gentle is to humble yourself. I want to go over one more scripture for the night on this topic but I will be discussing it later. Until next time be safe and be blessed, everyone.
